{"id":118,"date":"2008-07-18T08:58:39","date_gmt":"2008-07-18T16:58:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/glorajean.com\/content\/?p=118"},"modified":"2008-07-18T08:58:39","modified_gmt":"2008-07-18T16:58:39","slug":"another-edition-of-i-knew-i-shouldnt-have-eaten-that-when","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glorajean.com\/content\/?p=118","title":{"rendered":"Another edition of &#8216;I knew I shouldn&#8217;t have eaten that when . . .&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">The events that follow may not seem the sort that leave a lasting impression, but I can tell you that two days later I am still seeing the effects.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">It was a normal Wednesday night.\u00a0 Nate and I were hankering for a sweet treat and set off in our little car through our little town, down the little Main Street to the little Artic Circle for (most likely) our new favorite find: the flavorburst cone (my favorite is Raspberry).\u00a0 Feeling more healthful than usual, I noted that we could stop for a LOW FAT tasty treat at one of the\u00a0many Freezie (country for snow cone) shacks located throughout our town.\u00a0 We had already\u00a0passed up\u00a0at least 3\u00a0(I lost count), so we turned around and headed back\u00a0towards one.\u00a0\u00a0We happened\u00a0to pick the shack that is located\u00a0just outside Kent&#8217;s &#8211; the premiere grocery depot of the land &#8211; which is across the street from Taco Time:\u00a0home of the mysterious Mexi-Ice.\u00a0 Choices, choices.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll let you choose your own ending, although ours is fairly obvious.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Allow me to lay out the pro&#8217;s and con&#8217;s of each low fat frozen [questionably] ice treat.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">The Mexi-Ice.\u00a0 Taco Time describes the Mexi-Ice as &#8220;A sweet frozen concoction available in various flavors. A refreshing accompaniment to round out your meal.&#8221;\u00a0 For an excellent critical analysis on the Mexi-Ice, I refer you to my friend, Brittany&#8217;s blog <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/mostlyprobably.wordpress.com\/2008\/06\/16\/box-elders-favorite-treat-a-critical-analysis\/\">http:\/\/mostlyprobably.wordpress.com\/2008\/06\/16\/box-elders-favorite-treat-a-critical-analysis\/<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/pinkandbirchy.blogspot.com\/2008\/06\/box-elders-favorite-treat-critical.html\"><\/a><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00a0&#8211; I think I just tagged someone!\u00a0To summarize this article, the Mexi-Ice is an incredibly shiny,\u00a0over the top treat made probably of ice (we&#8217;re not sure) and other stuff (we&#8217;re also not sure &#8211; Taco Time never emailed me back) which does not have any qualities common to generic ice treats: it does not melt and it holds its shape.\u00a0 Although it sounds like perfection, the Mexi-Ice\u00a0does have a few negative qualities.\u00a0 First, it only comes in one flavor at a time,\u00a0which from our experience the\u00a0flavor on the sign and the flavor\u00a0of your\u00a0delicacy are not\u00a0necessarily the same (i.e. lime=pina colada).\u00a0 Secondly, it is\u00a0pricier than the common\u00a0snow cone, er, I mean Freezie.\u00a0 Sorry about that slip up.\u00a0\u00a0Thirdly, well, it&#8217;s mysterious.\u00a0 The\u00a0entire time\u00a0devouring the Mexi-Ice is devoted to an inner debate of what it is\u00a0and why you can&#8217;t stop eating it.\u00a0\u00a0In conclusion, the Mexi-Ice is\u00a0an experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">The\u00a0Freezie.\u00a0 The Freezie is basically a snow cone in a normal\u00a0cup (none of those dunce cap cups)\u00a0for you out of towners.\u00a0\u00a0A few admirable traits of the Freezie are the convenience (there are probably about 20 Freezie shacks in T-town\/Garland alone), the cost (a Freezie\u00a0costs much less than it&#8217;s finer counterpart the Mexi-Ice), and last but not least the flavors.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t count the whole list, but it was an 8.5&#215;11 paper with two columns of flavors.\u00a0 Although\u00a0Wedding Cake was crossed out, so that one doesn&#8217;t count.\u00a0\u00a0Creola cheese cake should probably be crossed out too.\u00a0 Cheese cake and ice just don&#8217;t mix, and I&#8217;m not sure what Creola means, but I&#8217;m pretty sure it&#8217;s Greek for nasty.\u00a0\u00a0I&#8217;ll ask my old Greek\u00a0co-worker when I see her next month.\u00a0 You can also add sour\u00a0spray for free.\u00a0 The boys in front of us were insistent that their Freezies were absolutely drenched with it so it must be good.\u00a0\u00a0Now on to the cons.\u00a0 I already mentioned the Creola Cheese Cake flavor, didn&#8217;t I?\u00a0 I told Nate not to do it.\u00a0 The boy working in the shack even asked him if\u00a0he was sure when he ordered it.\u00a0 He should have\u00a0known better.\u00a0 I, however got a fairly common flavor.\u00a0 Blue Raspberry.\u00a0 Yum.\u00a0 The flavor syrup to ice ratio was absolutely perfect.\u00a0 So I bet you&#8217;re wondering where the con comes in.\u00a0 Well, it comes the next morning.\u00a0 Apparently the\u00a0food coloring in the syrup is non-digestible.\u00a0 Also apparently, the\u00a0whole town must find it ordinary to\u00a0wake up with turquoise\u00a0bm&#8217;s.\u00a0 And the final\u00a0apparently (as I found out this morning), the non-digestible\u00a0syrup takes\u00a0quite\u00a0a while to mosey on out.\u00a0 I guess I should have gotten the cheese cake with Nate, at least it was clear.\u00a0 Perhaps the color of one&#8217;s bm&#8217;s is a bit much to share with the blogging world.\u00a0 Just let it serve as a caution\u00a0next time you pick a\u00a0low fat tasty frozen treat.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">So, there you have it.\u00a0 Next time you&#8217;re in town, I invite you to choose your own ending.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The events that follow may not seem the sort that leave a lasting impression, but I can tell you that two days later I am still seeing the effects.
