  1. This is a very intriguing idea. I think it hearkens back to some Honda and Acura commercials from the late 90’s when they did some very interesting things using car parts, too. As for the validity of their claim, I’m not sure. Michelle points out that woodwinds and strings made out of steel (or some other metal) would resonate very loudly and would therefore not need the microphones they show. At the same time, though, they do not sound quite like any currently standard instruments, either (i.e. harp, flute, trumpet, trombone, etc.). If nothing else, they get credit for creativity.

  2. It could possibly be that they setup the orchestra together for a TV recording, with microphones in place, but actually recorded the soundtrack seperately in a studio with different different microphone arrangements.

    Could they make the woodwinds and strings out of the vinyl dashboard material?
